first make sure the dvd itself isnt dirty or scratched, and you can clean the laser lens but if you dont know what your doing your more likely to mess it up than fix it. Unless your good with electronics you might consider having someone else do it, or buy a new player they are like 40 bucks now...

A dual-layer dvd will pause sometimes because the laser will read on the disk a small portion, then it will back up and read the same portion again, only at a deeper level. This will cause it to shortly pause. However, some dual-layer dvds, such as first pressings of Final Destination 3, The Matrix, Sixth Sense and others were so compressed that they would cause the dvd player to no longer function. This really sucks.

Try taking it out and wiping the DVD itself. Sometimes it has something on it not seen by our eyes. If that does not work then they do have something to clean the players.. they don't have heads like a VCR used to. Now if you do clean the player and still have the problem then there is something wrong with the DVD itself.

I don't know for sure. There may be grease or fingerprints on the DVD. I use rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth to clean mine when they pause.

No .. either the DVD needs to be cleaned with a soft cloth .. or just purchase a new DVD player. $40.00 at Target. Check it out. :)

I saw some DVD cleaner at Wal-Mart the other day. I was thinking of trying this myself for the same reason.
