This depends on what you mean by "program". If your computer cannot run games, this might be because you don't have the proper graphics driver installed on your computer. Search for "[graphics card name] driver" where [graphics card name] is the name of the graphics card, such as NVIDIA, ATI or GeForce.
Or, you could have insufficient computer specs. to run games, such as low RAM or low graphics card capibility. If you have a 512 MB RAM and above a 64MB graphics card, you should be fine. Otherwise, try upgrading it.

If you're talking about a HUGE game like World of Warcraft, your computer may not have sufficient resources (memory, free disk space) to run it (if your computer is more that about 5 years old this may be the case).

If you're downloading a game that must be installed then must be able to access the Internet while you're playing, a popup blocker, Internet Explorer or your firewall might be blocking you.

But, like the other people say, if you give us the name of the game, we can be more helpful.

Why can't you play them? Give examples or be more specific.

Update: If you downloaded a game via bittorrent or something similar, then look at the filename's extension. Does it end in ".zip" or ".rar"?

If it ends in ".zip" then you need a program like WinZip to open it.

If it ends in ".rar" then you need a program like WinRAR to open it.
