I get so frustrated when I come home in the evening only to find that my bills weren't mailed out. My local post office said that it was against their postmaster's policy to pick up mail if there wasn't mail to drop off. I didn't know that I had to be psychic to mail out a gd letter!!

Outgoing Mail Usps

Most mailboxes have a little red flag on the side. If you raise this flag, that will tell the mail carrier that you have outgoing mail in your box for them to pick up. It's always worked for me.
USPS still works, for 39 cents. I like to use regular mail. It is in my opinion, a safe, secure way to pay the bills. I know there are some that will be apalled that USPS is still used.
I also like writing correspondence on paper. It's becoming a lost art. If it really is against your local postal policies, (that doesn't sound right) drop off your mail at the post office before you go to work, or when you are on your way home from work.

You didn t specify if the mail was being mailed from a business or a private residence. If it is a business, the carrier is not required to come inside to look for out going mail. If you do in fact have mail being delivered, then your outgoing mail should be in a location adjacent to where the mail is delivered. On heavy business routes, it could greatly increase the time of delivery to other addresses if the carrier stops to check every address. More time equals more wages equals postage rate increases. If it is a private residence, delivery is not required for mail pickup as long as there is a "flag" on the mail receptacle identifying you have out going mail. Go online and find a link to contact the Post Office. File a complaint. If you have the flag up, they should drive by and pick it up.

Or go down and talk to the postmaster at the local office and ask for the states Postmaster so you can file a formal complaint that your mail is not being picked up. I'm pretty sure they are supposed to pick it up. That's half of their job. That postmaster sounds like he's cutting corners.

If your mail man is on foot and not coming up to your on-the- house mailbox with incoming mail, he may not see the outgoing letters. If you have a street box with the flag, you should call your postmaster back and ask for his boss's phone number. taht is nothing but laziness to skip if its at the street.

In the meantime, you don't want checks and letters sitting out in your mailbox for too long. I would recommend finding a blue mailbox on your daily drive. Also I have found it not a problem to add mail to the outgoing mail at work or school. (My bank wouldn't add my mail to their outgoing mail for me...guess not all banks are as nice as that one in the Shawshank Redemption)

Let's think about this logically..

Why would a mailman, who's primary job is to DELIVER mail, go to every door, or open every mailbox, to see if there is outgoing mail?

If you know this is an issue, why don't you drop off your mail at one of the many, many, many places you can send your mail? If I want my mail to go out, I take it to an official mail postal drop box.

Call the U.S. Post Master General. complain. Even if it's a policy, they will change it for you.

This is our good o'l Gov. You know, the one that prohibits companies from Monopoly.

Go try to start a private postal service.

hahahahaha
