We have these tiny little dark brown bugs in the bathroom, kitchen and laundry room. They are the size of the head of a pin and have antennas. I keep spraying and killing the ones I see but they are all over!!! They jump but they are definately not fleas... I have never had a bug problem before. I live in the southwest. Too small to get picture of clearly. Please help!!!

I looked at some pictures of sand fleas and those are not them. These are more like an ant but only one segment of body...

It would really help if you could get a photo somehow...

but anyway, if they are not biting you then they probably aren't fleas.

If they have six legs and a pair of antenna, look closely at the 'tail end' of its abdomen and you may well find a 'spring' mechanism (it looks like a spine tucked under the abdomen) called the furcula that allows the insect to 'jump'. My best guess is you have 'springtails' (Collembola), these insects love moist places and feed on debris/rotting matter and usually are found in soil. They are usually pale in color but some can be quite dark.

They are considered beneficial as they 'recycle' dead matter, but I guess if you want them to go away, you could try thoroughly cleaning out your affected areas so that they have nothing left to feed on, then keep the areas as dry as possible after that. Insecticides would work too, but I don't like using poisons if there are other alternatives.

Let me know if I guessed right! Good luck!

take a white paper plate and put a little water and any kind of citrus dish washing liquid and set it under a light, if its fleas they will go to the water and drown because of the soap. I know it sounds stupid but it works!!!!

they'd be Rice or pulse beetles. they are propagated from some nutrition products as grains. become conscious of the source and freeze the article so as that the beetles and eggs are killed. they'd reason abdomen issues.
