Was there a fifth season of lois and clark the new adventures of superman?

I was watching an old interview of Dean Cain and he said on the show that lois and clark was renewed for a fifth season, but I don't remember there being a fifth season. Was it renewed? Did they just cancel it before they started a fifth season? I know they are about to release the forth season on dvd. Was the forth season the last season?

There was only four seasons. Maybe he was hoping for a fifth season which never happened. I remember as season four ended they stated it was a series finale.
