This was a statement made on a PBS evening show Sept 29? (maybe the 28th)

"We're doing what no terrorist bomb could ever do - we're taking our own freedoms away." (something like that)

Anyone know who said it, or what show it was?

Our present strategy is playing to the terrorists strengths. Change the strategy. It's as simple as that.

That is said by half of America every day. The religious and political right are trying do destroy the secular government as created by the Founding Fathers and reflected in their collective statement in 1797:

“As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion”

I cannot understand how so many Americans roll over like a two-dollar whore, giving up the only thing that makes this country great.

Ben Franklin said: "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
— Benjamin Franklin (on the title page of An Historical Review of the Constitution and Government of Pennsylvania - 1759)

And, Americans who follow the conservative movement are taking America down this very road.

The First Amendment does not say that ignorant white-trash Christian crusaders get to ruin what American revolutionaries fought and died for.

Now, conservative Christians, just like the British 250 years ago, what bury our Founding Fathers, rip-apart our Constitution, and destroy our country.

Their goal is the overthrow of out democratic republic for a theocratic totalitarian government based on the teachings of their evil rape-torture-kill God who hates humanity and cruelly judges all people. As John Adams said, they want to, “"whip and crop, and pillory and roast."

This is hardly the first time Christians have tried to undermine the government and overthrow the country. In 1864, 1874, 1896 and 1911, they tried to pass amendments that would rewrite the Constitution to include references to God. Furthermore, there has never been a time in the history of Christianity when it had political power and did not use it for evil purposes.

And today’s Christian terrorists wish America harm as well. On 9/11 both Falwell and Robertson said that God had brought down the trade towers and killed 3,000 because he was angry with America and that we deserved it because we had brought it on ourselves. Of course, on 9/12 they began denying it when it became clear that most Americans were not in the mood for that kind of talk.

We will never know if Adams was right when he wrote,” This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it!”, because we likely we never find out.

But we do know that if the Christian religious-right gains control of America, then only terrorists will control the world. How can deal with Islamic terrorists abroad when we have Christian terrorist traitors at home?

No. But I think that people need to realize that freedom comes with responsibility.
