People who view themselves as being morally superior to others have an uninspected and unreconciled life.
I used to think I was morally superior to others until I did what you describe: I looked at myself clearly, without vain hopes. This is all it takes to remove the idea that one is morally superior to others.

I am for sure morally superior than the average person.
Just kidding...I'm more like just average.
There are definitely those to do believe they are and those people get on my nerves. I find that people who preach moral values to others, go to church on Sundays, and can recite scripture right off the bait are often times the biggest sinners I know.
I believe it's how you act on a daily basis. How you treat one another that matters. Not whether or not you go to Bible studies every week. Not to say anything is wrong with that but if you don't practice what you preach then what's the darn point.

The easy answer is yes. The problem is, however, that is an unintentional trick question. People judge themselves by their own standards - standards that created based on their own expereinces and are subsequently unique to them. Likewise morals are unique to each indivual so when people asses themselves, they tend to think they are morally superior because they acted in line with their own beleifs of what is acceptable and moral behavior.

I never think I'm superior to anyone . I may act or react better in some situations in a more mature way . { and use my morals }
None of us are perfect .
So sometimes I act in bad taste too .

Yes, most people think they are morally superior to the average person.
"We have not the courage to declare as a general principle that we have no shortcomings and our enemies no good qualities; but when it comes to details, that is what we are none too far from believing."

I used to think I was morally superior to people, and then I noticed that I wasn't moral OR superior.

Morals are beliefs in what is right or wrong so it would be an oxy moron to NOT believe your morals are better than others. If you believe THEIRS were better, they'd be adapted into YOUR morals.

no, when people actually think (as you did) they acknowledge that they are on par with the large majority of the rest of their peers and society. depending on our own variant perspectives, we view ourselves as better/worse. its all relative to the focal point of our comparison. are we comparing ourselves to bin Laden or Mother Teresa.

I do. I tend to live as I say. So that makes me better than people that say one thing but always do another. Yep - I am good.
