Every time I try to play music, if my computer isn't doing anything else the sound is fine. Every time I try to open a new window (or do something else that requires my computer to do work), the sound gets all crackily and I have to stop the music. What exactly (specifics) is wrong with my computer and what can I do to fix it?

It could be any number of things; very low RAM in your system, conflicts between the sound card and other programs, corrupted driver for your sound card, etc.
You might want to try using the hardware manager to "uninstall" your sound card, and then reboot and Windows should find the sound card as new hardware and re-install the drivers for it. (Or, if you have the CD, reinstall the software for the card from the CD). Good luck.

You might try reinstalling your sound driver. If I knew more about your computer I could be more helpful.
