I was in a car wreck some 14 years ago... bits of glass eventually came out from above my left eye brow... i believe there is still a square of windscreen glass lodged in my head, sometimes it feels like it is finally going to split to reveal the glass.

Anyway i want to have it removed as there is a pronounced bump... A few years ago i asked the Doc about this, but she would not send me for an x-ray or take the matter any further. i will not attempt to remove the glass myself.. so how can i convince the doctor otherwise?

Thanks for any useful answers :-)

Rule of thumb: If it hurts, that something that hurts must go. I bet, your doctor would have removed it pronto, if it were stuck in her head.

You have to decide. If it hurts you you must get it removed. Pain is nature's way of telling us something is not right. Ignore it at your peril.

If I were you, I would just head over to the nearest hospital and explain to them what happened and see if they'll do an x-ray. I wouldn't wait for a doctor to decide to do it. Having glass in your head sounds serious and shouldn't wait.
I'm wondering why you waited 14 years to have the glass removed, though. Oh, well - better late than never.

Phone books are loaded with doctors. Pick one. Your the patient, it's your head your pain. An x-ray of the front orbit is not asking too much. Change doctors if that makes you more comfortable.

I would suggest that you change your doctor. Another one might help you, since this one won't. Or, you could go to the ER and tell them your head is hurting really bad in that spot, they will do some x-rays and then you can be sure!

Have you thought of going to a different type of doctor, like a Dermatologist? Maybe they would be willing to look into this "bump" that you have.

well does your doctor know what the bump is if its not a piece of glass?? sounds like she's pretty adamant about you not getting hte x-ray...

drop the first Dr. and go to the emergency on your own for their
appraisal and treatment or just find another M.D. elsewhere .
Dr.'s are not always correct .
