can be turned down for government assistance/food stamps because my car was too new(1998 Chevy Prism)it was in the yr of 2000 when I applied and my car was only $10,000! They offered me $25 a month for food stamps!!!! For 3 kids, i had no job, had been a stay at home mother for 5 years and thats all they said i qualified for!!! But, sorry to say but I see mexicans and blacks everywhere, even at the aid office parking lot that have brand new expensive cars! Whats going on with this! Did I mention I was white? Could that maybe be why I didnt qualify or could I have qualified had I put down a Hispanic last name..i dont know!

I can relate completely I am also a single mother, of 2 kids one with bi-polar, intermittent rage and oppositional defiant disorder. I was a stay at home mom for about 11 year and did child care out of my home until I had back surgery. And now I cant pick up kids or sit for too long, or stand for long periods of time or even walk more than two blocks without sever pain. I am receiving W-2 but my child support is being taken to pay for that. I receive $54 a month for food stamps. That goes real far with a 14 yr old boy. I have lost about 80 pound in the last year because of nerves and to make sure that my kids can eat. believe me I understand. It seams that there is a double standard for people out there I think it depends on who you know and other reasons. I wish you luck and will keep you in my prayers

I don't think I can really help you with your problem although I don't think it has anything to do with your race or family name. Please let me share with you the situation in Singapore, where I live. Here in Singapore, if you own a car or property, you are lucky if you get away with food ration and temporary monthly cash assistance.
Your best bet is to be (or get) self-employed. Save money as you work, and may be....practice birth control regardless of marital status. Ask yourself what you're good in and may be, turn that into your career.

you didn't work it honey, you didn't work it. you should have researched the requirements for assistance before you asked for them.
if your car was too new, put it in your mom's name
if you have a job, get a new one and do someting at your old one to get you fired so that your old boss can say you have recently stopped receiving income.
blacks and hispanics know how to work the system b/c the system is so common to their culture. - I had to work it for a while too - hate on me if you want, I'm "whitey" so you do anyway!

perhaps its a matter that should be takin up in court...why no child support??????????? but have faith, my taxes from workin sixty hours a week for 16 years will come to the rescue, once again. ... in fact, ill throw in 600 dollars a year for school tax so your children can eat.........its not that your white.........its because your "babies daddy " is lame. play the game or direct yourself to make a difference.
