I also have a fear of spiders probally passed to me from my mother who is also afrade of them.. I never understood this fear since I am bigger than a spider but I would probally face all my other fears before that one and end up hurting my self to get away from a spider.

I wash my hands all the time because I am scared of germs. I won't use public bathrooms and when I get out in public I try not to touch things. When I do I won't touch my face or body until I wash my hands.

I don't like for people to touch me unless it's one of my kids or hubby. Not big on others in my family touching me either..

Canned Biscuits. I can't open them. I freaky out.

phobias are manifestations of personal fears brought about from social beliefs. This means that you develop a fear of something usually because of what society has to say about it ( might be family, friends, or people around). If you take some time to reflect on your childhood experiences, you may probably be able to find why the phobia came about. I am claustrophobic and I remember when as a child my older brothers locked me in an old freezer and left me there for a very long while. I remember crying and crying and felt a way I would never want to feel again. Now whenever I get in a confined area I start developing this same feeling and have to find a way out. I am trying to get over it but its real hard. The good things is that I was able to find where it came from.

I never really understood why folks would fear the number 13. The way I always looked at it is there were 12 disciples and Christ making that the original 13 of Christ's church on earth. Then there is the bakers dozen ... good ole 13 of whatever to keep from shorting the king. I've researched this unfounded fear, and still can't rationalize it in my head. Now Friday the 13th is significant as it was the 13th day of Nissan that Christ was allegedly crucified .... thus Friday the 13th wasn't a very good day even though we refer to it as Good Friday. Interesting factoid, me thinks.

Snakes and spiders freak me out too. I really don't have a reason for the phobia other than they are creepy and benomous.

Yes, phobias can be passed down exactly in that way. You get them by your experiences or by someone else's fears. We are not born with fear. We learn it.

I have a phobia of clowns and dolls.

I am terrified of spiders!!!!!!!!! I am pretty sure it started when i was little, my mom was playing hide and seek with me and my friend. I climbed under our house ( where the water-hose goes) and i guess i got wrapped up in a big web with baby spiders all over me cause my mom told me i was screaming and crying and she had to put me in the shower to get them off!

Most of my phobias are unfounded. Don't know how they got there and why they still exist in my life. It's weird how that happens.
