It's a little thing called self discipline.... it's hard to learn, but once you do, you've got it for life and it'll take you everywhere you need to be...

Seriously, try not opening up your msn or any other chat rooms. Set a timer (the stove works well). Set yourself up where you're comfortable. And reward yourself. Tell yourself once you've done 1 hour of homework, you'll chat for 15 minutes... or if you do 1h30 of HW, you'll chat for 45 minutes. Make sure you have good lighting and are not hungry so a snack before is good. Try doing it as soon as you get home from school and get it over with so you have your whole evening free....

And the best thing to remind yourself about is that if you get it done YOU WON'T SUFFER FROM GUILT.....

Come on... you can do it!

Do your homework in the kitchen.
Sit at the table and put on the oven timer for 45 minutes. Study and when the buzzer goes off, get up and walk around, get a glass of water or some fruit or something and when 10 mintues have passed, go back to the table and do another 45 mintues.
Repeat until you are done and then treat yourself by going online for one hour before you go to sleep.

Set specific goals for yourself for the evening, e.g., write down a list of all the HW that needs to get done. Then, make a deal with yourself that after you complete a certain number of items on your list, you'll reward yourself (a 15-minute reward is good--make sure you keep it to 15 minutes!). And then, return to your list and finish up. Give yourself a big reward when finished by letting yourself play on the computer or whatever you like to do.

One more thing that has always helped me to keep from procrastinating: I tell myself that as soon as I finish this, I won't have to do it anymore. I find I enjoy my play time much better after I don't have that monkey on my back.

All the best to you.

Try doing your home work away from a computer... stay at the kitchen table, and if you need to do some research... Go online, do what suff you need to do there then go back to the table. If your teacher wants your homework done on a computer, try disconnecting the computer from the net, unless you need to go online, once done, disconnect it again... this will ensure that you stay focused in.. Ooooh I just found a cool new site... gtg

Try to break up your homework in little chucks so every time you finish a chunk you have a sense of accomplishment. Like do 15 minutes of homework and reward yourself for your dicipline with 5 minutes of chat - then back to homework for 15 more minutes, etc. Keep a clock or a timer handy to help youself. if you don't need your computer to do homework - do it in a room without a computer.

Learn to budget your time. Do the quick stuff first. Do the Long stuff in parts and the not so long stuff in the middle so you don't get bored. Break each task into minutes and only allow yourself to chat If you have minutes remaining. Now stop reading this and go back to studying.

Maybe your school work is too easy for you and you need a challenge. Try finding things in your day that relate to your studies. For example, if math is boring you, find something that you do regularly that involves math and use it to make the math homework more interesting or challenging. Or your teacher might approve alternate or addional projects that challenge your intelligent brain.

try goals of 2-5 min at a time then increase to goals of ten, fifteen etc, each time you reach a goal praise yourself as you become more focused, after a goal of so many minutes are reached ,treat yourself to something you like.
