Laptops are easily portable, that is there main function. If you don't need one that is portable then go for the desktop, you get more power for your money.

Pros: You get to build something...and it's rewarding You get to understand how it's all connected in there You have good choice of parts and options to suit your needs You end up with a great machine that can be upgraded for years. Cons: The time it takes The fact that putting a couple dollars more will get you more...but when do you stop? The risks of breaking a valuable part (following instructions help!) The uncertainty about the build, it's usually good to have a friend with you to help if it's your first time! You do not get a lot of technical help from the seller I like to build systems, but it's not for anyone. Don't get me wrong it's not hard and you don't have to be an electrician, but if you are not handy in general, you might not like it! Also understand that it takes a couple of hours to set up and that there's no 1-800 number to call if something goes wrong, so plan wisely and make sure you have a back door exit (computer repair shop not far from home!).

It depends on what you want to do with you PC (whether desktop or laptop).

Do you want to carry it around or take it from room to room? Laptop.
Do you want to upgrade the components to keep up with new CPUs or graphics cards? Desktop.
Do you have a lot of room and always use the computer at home in one place? Desktop.

There are a lot of questions you can ask.

To be perfectly honest, I doubt most people will notice the difference in performance between a desktop and a laptop if they are recent models.

It depends on your lifestyle and requirements.

I personally don't like a lot of clutter, so I have a laptop. I also have WiFi at home, so I take my laptop from my office to the living room.

laptop is also a personal computer(PC), so there is no difference..there is a Laptop Computer and Desktop computer, desktop computers are more powerful and can be easily upgraded, if you just want to search the Internet and do some small jobs then laptop is better, but if you want to play games, do some video editing, office work, then desktop is better
