Many people think that our ancestors were savage cavemen. That is not true. While they lacked modern technology they had greater values than that of the US today. They also respected mother earth a lot more than the newer residents.

I don't think Indian when I hear the word savage. It could be it's because I have Native American blood, but I don't think that's the reason. I have the greatest respect for Mother Earth, I am fed in this way. To me, a savage is anyone who destroys anything that is sacred to another. Or someone who is intentionally cruel to others. I hope this helps.

I don't think Indian , I Am part Indian ! I think Ignorance, no matter where it comes from. Europe, America, Asia. Ignorance is dangerous. the U.S. constitution was copied from the Cherokee Nation. Sequoia wrote a constitution for his people , and the colonies took that. from a lowly Indian from North Carolina. oh yeah , we named a tree in California for him . look how many of our states and cities have Indian names: Kentucky, Illinois, Massechussess or however it is spelled. Oklahoma , a Choctaw word thet means ...get ready... Red Man Otchla -red Homa -Man
just a wachitchu spelling.

I'm afraid WE are the savages. We killed most of the Native Americans, we killed each other by the hundreds of thousands in our own Civil War, and in the Twentieth Century we set an all-time "record" by killing each other by the tens of MILLIONS in World War I and World War II and all the wars before, in between, and after, and now we're STILL carrying on with the killing all over the world! Not to mention, in our "spare time", we're destroying our entire global environment!

Schools don't teach people much about non-European cultures. If they did, they would have to deal with all these students realizing that maybe the "discovery" of America wasn't a good thing, but actually terrible.

Sometimes ethnocentrism holds a country together, or at least maintains the status-quo.
