can anyone help me with this, i left my hamlet book at school... :[

According to Ophelia, Hamlet has expressed his love for her in a very genuine way. Hamlet is depressed because of ______ , but mostly because of ______. He encounters his fathers spirit and discovers that Claudius has murdered his brother ______.

I'm going to answer the questions as best I can, but if you haven't read Hamlet yet, you should give it a try at some point. Or at the very least, read a summary and watch a movie. (There's a version with an actor named Kenneth Branagh that didn't cut any of the text. Obviously, it's very long--about four hours--but that way you wouldn't miss much.) I hated Shakespeare until I read Hamlet. I ended up loving it from then on, and I hope to study Shakespeare in grad school one day. I'm a dork though, and I know people who still dislike it, but you really should give it a shot. You might enjoy it. :-)

For these next two, I have no idea what it's asking for. It seems like it would depend on how you interpret the play. The first one could be Ophelia (Because she helps Polonius when he tries to show Claudius that Hamlet is mad. Or because she dies, but that's much later in the play). The second blank could be his father's death or his inability to avenge his father's death. The fact that his mother remarried so quickly might also be a possible answer for one of the blanks. Maybe there are a few answers that would be correct? I can't think of any two definite things that would fit into those blanks.

Hamlet? by poisoning him? (The ghost tells Hamlet that he was poisoned by Claudius.)
