Okay, I know I'll get some replies from those other than fellow Christians...there's no way getting around those who just want to smart off, or take an opportunity to make 2 pts.
I'm really puzzeled by something, and I'm wondering if any of you have been wondering this also. Every day, I see Christians witnesing to non believers...telling them that Jesus can deliver them from drugs, alchohol, impure sex, ect. BUT, these same Christians are slaves to ciggeretts. Anyone else wonder that??

The Bible instructs us not to JUDGE...BUT, we ARE to examine the fruits of believers. I think it is wrong to tell people about how big God is for others, but NOT for THEM

The one thing to remember christians are not perfect and just because they are not perfect does not mean they are hipocrits. There are many areas you can backslide and still be a christian. Christianity is a journey with many different journeys (no I'm not saying there are many different paths to God) and battles. I currently battle with smoking as well. Look deep within yourself and you will find that there are many things that you yourself have to work on to become more christ like. And our downfalls will someday give us the ability to tell someone that I have been where you are and with the grace of God I beat it, so you can do the same. And remember, Judge not lest ye be Judged.

Those people are mislead into thinking that smoking isn't hamrful and that nicltine isn't a drug, but it is, and it's every bit as harmful as drinking or accessive drug use. Infact, it's even harmful to those that don't endulge, but are a party to it. You don't suffer second hand affects from drinking. Maybe from some drug use though. These people need to be aware that what they are doing is hypocritical to witness to others about the dos and don'ts of drugs and alcohol, but not taking the time to recognize the hypoctacy of smoking. It's wrong. People like to makes excuses to justify the means.

Some Christians believe witnessing means preaching at anyone they think needs God. Most people do not hear those words, but they notice your behavior and how you conduct yourself. Leading someone to salvation is not enough...they will need guidance and support. Just telling someone that God can deliver them from addiction is not the cure.

Unfortunately people see cigarettes as an acceptable vice but in reality it is more addictive than cocaine or heroin....It is advertised and made to look harmless... I guess that they feel that this is a vice that they can be forgiven for... by the way just because someone does not profess to be a Christian does not mean .... well you should know by being a "Christian" (never evaluate yourself above others...Buddah..).

yes but understand. cigarettes is harder to quit than crack or any other drug out there. I should know I smoked for 15 yrs and I tried to quit 5000 times.
It's the same thing as the ones who gossip about one another or say hateful things behind closed doors.
Im not making excuses for smokers or anyone else.
I just believe everyone has to make their own choice and or peace with their addiction, hell I know people who are addicted to church!

Maybe they don't practice what they preach. It took me years to put my cigs down, and I didn't do it on my own. I waited until the Lord put conviction on my heart, its not wrong to them until God tells them it is. I know the Bible but It still takes the Lord to tell us for himself sometimes> I hope this helps.
Someone once told me be careful how you act and what you do , you may be the only Bible someone reads.

It is sort of Hypocritical. The Bible states that your body is a temple for God and to stay away from things that can harm it. Most of us are probably guilty of this. (caffine, tattoos, piercings, etc.) However they are preaching to people that God can and will deliver them from these "greater evils" if you will.

I like to beleive that God makes you do these things to learn from them. I've certainly sinned, but I know God will forgive me. If we didn't want to have bad things happen to us, we wouldn't eat from the tree of knowledge. So to this day, everyone makes a decision to eat from the tree of knowledge, and that's what makes life life.

They are just the usual hypocrites. My sunday school superintendent used to get into fist fights at the friday night basketball games at our high school, then stand up in front of church holier than thou on Sunday morning, a couple of times with a black eye. Guess he didn't want to turn the other cheek.

yes i do. as humans though, we will always struggle with sin and temptation. ive known Christians who were addicted to Sex, drugs, alcohol etc... as well. i find that since i became a Christian i seem to struggle harder and give in easier (if that makes sense) i think its a matter of recognizing our own imperfection and giving credit to Christ's redeeming love. and then we are so stoked that God can forgive us that we tell other people.
