Over the past week I was frisked going into a :

NFL Football Game
Jury Duty at a County Courthouse
Book Sale in Washington DC

Lanes are divided for females and males and you assume the position of arms raised and legs spread while a same gender person goes up and down your body with the back of the hand.

I live nearly outside the Washington DC beltway. Is this commonplace in the rest of the nation? Does it bother anyone but me that we go through this?

"Frisk verb. quickly patting down the clothes of a possible criminal suspect to determine if there is a concealed weapon. This police action is generally considered legal (constitutional) without a search warrant. Generally it is preferred that women officers frisk women and men officers frisk men."

Yes it is happening in other parts of the country also. My husband and his friends have to frisk people at large events like NFL games.
Some of our court houses do the frisk and some have metal detectors.
It has become a common occurance since 9/11. Yes it is a bother and makes it longer to get into events and places but if it protects everyone or even just one person then to me it is worth it.
Oh and by the way a frisk can be done by a male to a female and a female to a male as long as no sexual intent is involved. And only the areas in common can be touched by frisker (not really a word i am sure but you get the idea) to person of opposite sex and only with the back of the hand like you said. Arms, legs, head, chest(yes it is a common area), butt, legs, & feet
Thanks

I have NEVER been frisked. Not even at the airport, and I have traveled by air many times, even many times since 9/11. I have had that wand thing waved all around me... and they've pulled me aside to search my bag (I had a teeny set of nail clippers I'd forgotten about - it was confiscated)... and one time, they couldn't make out what was in another carry on bag, so they pulled me aside to have me unpack my carefully packed bag. The mystery item was a rusted horseshoe I had found on the beach in Nome by the Bering Sea... So, my bags get frisked for the oddball things I accumulate, but I've never been frisked, myself.

The only time I was ever frisked was at an airport coming through customs. I havn't been since then. That was like 5 years ago.

Anywhere they suspect people will be bringing in weapons they may frisk. This is how America is now... too many weapons, too many crazies.

I personally have never been frisked. But I also hate cities and don't go places like sports stadiums.

Lately, I've only been frisked when I went into a strip club.

As long as you like it. Was it a regular frisk, or a full cavity search?
