Useing a Diesel pickup, if I went to a cafe and asked if I could have the old vegetable or crisco oil. I once heard that you could burn this stuff by just heating the oil first.

you have to filter it and do some stuff to it first you can look it up online how to make bio diesel fuel.

As already mentioned if you are intending to run that pickup of yours on it, you will need to filter. Get hold of some washable nylon filters if you are going to do this seriously. You should filter down to at least 25 microns (many people say to 10 microns but IMHO this is a bit excessive as diesel at the pump isnt this refined) If you are just experimenting you can get away with a cotton pillow case (just). The next thing is the viscosity, your diesel pump is going to be working a whole lot harder in the colder weather trying to get that thhick old oil from tank to engine so you will find that as the weather gets colder you will either have to heat the tank or thin it down with diesel and/or gasoline (no more that 10% gas)
If you are just burning in a diesel stove then the same applies

You need to filter it first. Your injectors will need more frequent cleanings if you use vegetable oil. Try to get oil from establishments that are known to change it frequently.
