I talk to strangers all the time. You never know who might be having a bad day that could be made a little better by a smile and a few nice words. I especially like to smile and chat with older people, so many of them are lonely.

I do in the checkout lanes . I live in a small town , we don't have elevators.

But i dont ever spark up conversations with others at checkout lanes or elevators.

Rarely, unless spoken to first. Even then, I am too shy to say a whole lot. It is just awkward for me.
