I just bought my dream house. It's perfect and we want to stay here until we retire. There's a huge problem though that we never realized. Although the house isn't very close to the airport, it's on a flight path, meaning that we are about 15 blocks away from the end of a runway so the planes take off and land right above our beautiful house and about once every half hour when we are sitting outside relaxing in our beuatiful yard it gets so loud for a few seconds that we can't hear ourselves think! It's mostly just embarrassing. We had a housewarming party and people were laughing about the airport noise!

you do eventually get used to it, but the good thing is that when the seasons and weather changes, the flight patterns do too, so it won't be all year long, just part of it.

There is no such thing as the perfect house. It could be a roof that you just cant find the leak. It could be the carpenter ants that the inspectors didn't find. It could be the psychotic neighbor that moves in next door right after you signed papers. Or it might be airplane noise, all of which have happened to me. With my house that had airplanes over head, the nights were the worst! Then I started to play a game with it. I would pretend I was on the plane and I was going somewhere wonderful. Before you know it you're asleep. You will get used to it. Much like the refrigerator running you don't even hear it.

Surely you KNEW that airports would have airplanes??

That being said, you will eventually acclimate yourself to the sound. One day you will realize that you aren't even noticing the flyovers.

We live in the flight path of Cherry Point MCAS, and the sound of the planes flying over is actually comforting to us.

That is terrible, you might be able to sue for your money back. Look at the disclosure statements, and see if any part of it was answered falsely. If you want to stay there, you can probably get a departure and landing schedule form the airport, and work around it.

You should have maybe investigated before you bought, however in time you will get used to the noise and you won't hear it anymore.
