So far, I've gotten some great answers for my questions about different schooling systems. I'm writing an essay about these schools, I'd love some input.

There may be a variety of charter schools depending on the state you're in but in many states the taxes are diverted to charter schools similarly as they are to public schools. They are free, just like public schools. Private school in the US are tuition based schools which do not use state taxes to run their schools.
Charter shools have less students and often have a focus such as art, music even horticulture! Other charter schools may claim "back to basics" Some are just where kids who have been kicked out of every neighborhood school end up. It all depends where you are.
Some private schools switch over to charter school status, drop the tuition but keep their teachers and maintain the high quality of instruction. Some charter schools demand highly qualified teachers and some do not.(same as some public schools)
When charter schools were first starting, many were run by parents who were tired of waiting for the public schools to "do their job" some were poorly managed and folded due to lack of finacial money management or someone might have been using the money in a wrong way. It happens in some private and public schools too...That gave the charter schools a bad name in some areas.
Advantages: some kids need smaller, more closely knit environments. Teachers who are there for the kids or the subject more than the money (less pay in charter and private)
Parents have closer relationship, more opportunity for vollunteering, cleaning classrooms or somehow offering "service" time to help the school fund-raise or grade papers etc. Most charter schools are hanging on by a thread. They are not rolling in the dough. Recently state regulations start to monitor things like do you accept special needs kids etc.
Kids might make closer friendships and feel more comfortable in a smaller environment. On the other hand a friend of mine had to take her daughter out of a charter school because there were so many "drop outs" from public school and because they went through like three principal in one year- each one changing the policy and teachers quititng. Public school "lock" in teachers with a strict contract so they won't quit mid year.
My daughter went to an charter Art H.S where artists taught classes. She is now an artist herself...but she never had any good P.E or math classes- oh well, sometimes you have to go with what ya got!
My own feelings are you have to look hard to find one with a good reputation- in any case, public, private and charter. I've taught in all- it just depends what you want. I was lucky to have choices for my three, very different children. Some kids just don't fit the mold and it is nice to have an alternatve.
Good luck on your paper.

Charter Schools, being exempt by a lot of school rules, get complete choice over who gets enrolled into their schools. They boast high test scores and stuff, but that is only because they are able to select students who will produce high test scores.

Charter Schools STEAL $ and other resources from public school districts. Public school districts are forced to provide them with facilities, and are forced to give up more of their budget for each student in a Charter School compared to a public school.

Charter schools are not bound by the same laws in regards to hiring teachers as public schools. Not all teachers at a charter school are necessarily qualified to be teaching.

There are a lot of really really good and diverse populations of public schools. There are a lot of really really good teachers in public school districts. Good teachers strive to teach more people, and thus usually go for regular public schools rather than private-like charter schools.

Public college is a lower than elementary mass practise. There are too many little ones in the lecture room for the instructor to remarkable coach at each and every childs element and therefore many little ones fall through the gaps and are left behind. the three-4 hour a nighttime homework shall we us understand that the youngsters aren't any further being taught everyhting they should be in college. If i could sit down with them for 3 hours a nighttime why no longer do in simple terms all their practise myself, and supplies you them a even as to be kids. The socialization you'll listen others communicate about is almost continually adverse---sexually lively pre-youngster females, bullying, favorites, acceptance strifes, smoking, drugs, alcohol, and so a lot extra. The activities in public college value way more suitable than activities through a commuinty setup or church crew, and in elementary words the perfect ones get picked in college-no longer so in different communities because anybody receives a risk. deepest college might want to be good. quite intense priced practise and books and maximum require to grant uniforms to their liking. They may also develop into over crowded and preclude the only-on-one time with scholars. there remains alot of homework and the activities are quite intense priced as are journeys and lunches. little ones can develop into snooty and extra perfect than others. Homeschooling enables the figure to tailor the gaining understand-how of to their newborn's needs. no one is left behind or falls through the gaps. One-on-one time is ample and the newborn can ask the questions needed without being ridiculed through different scholars. Socialization isn't a topic with psorts, church activities and playdates, sleepovers and such. Homeschoolers have all a similar extra curricular activities accessible to them, we in simple terms ought to seem. we've co-op practise which includes different homeschoolers and they do technology projects, music, drama, spanish, latin, cooking, quilting and so a lot extra. moms and dads set the speed, moms and dads pick what's taught, moms and dads are responsible of their own little ones-no longer some authorities who has no idea what's ideal for my newborn! EDIT* all and sundry that asserts they have considered homeschooled little ones and they are weird and wonderful or unsocialized, I truly have considered thousands upon thousands of public college little ones capturing up faculties, making drugs, and sitting on death row because of a few awful crime, research those information and see which seems a touch extra perfect. Homeschooled little ones come from an component to love.
