A group of dolphins is called a pod. Most pods consist of related adult females and their offspring. Pods of dolphins come together for certain events -such as large feedings and breeding times - and form what is called a superpod.

a pod.

pods of dolphins are amazing to see! riding the bow of the boat and jumping along side. I went on a whale watching trip (at monterey bay,ca) in high school and saw a pod of 300+ dolphins, 3 differnt kinds. pacific whitesided dolphins, bottle nose dolphins, and another species i cant remember. but we stopped the boat and as they swam by you could hear all of thier clicks and whistles! is was the most amazing thing!. we also saw a grey whale and her calf

also when i went to maui last year we went on a tour and saw another pod of around 300 spinner dolphins. jumping and spinning around in the water, and alot of babies too! that were mimicking the adults. you could also hear their whistles and such and could see them alot more clearly in the water since its practically crystal clear!.

Dolphins are amazing creatures, and my favorite animal =p . =) maybe one day you'll experience it. =)
