THEY CAN DO ONE ANYTIME ACTUALLY TO SEE HOW FAR ALONG YOU ARE. I VE ALWAYS FOUND THAT SO AMAZING HOW THEY CAN TELL YOU BY EXACT WEEKS AND DAYS HOW FAR ALONG YOU ARE.THE EARLIEST THOUGH TO FIND OUT THE SEX THOUGH I THINK IS BETWEEN THE 4TH AND 5TH MONTH ALONG;THAT IS SO THRILLING. BUT IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE POSITION OF YOUR BABY TOO-- IF HE/SHE ISNT IN RIGHT POSITION THEY MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE A CERTAIN PART.IN FACT IF YOU REALLY WANT TO GET ONE DONE ASAP TELL THEM YOU RE NOT SURE WHEN YOUR LAST CYCLE WAS , EVEN IF YOU REALLY DO.THAT WILL DEFINITELY GET YOU ONE BECAUSE THEY NEED TO KNOW HOW FAR ALONG YOU ARE. HOPE THIS TIP HELPS YOU OUT.CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR BEAUTIFUL BUNDLE OF JOY. ENJOY EVERY STAGE OF YOUR PREGNANCY AND EVERYDAY WITH THAT BABY. IT ALL GOES BY MUCH TOO FAST. MY OLDEST BABY JUST TURNED 18 TODAY.MY YOUNGEST JUST TURNED 1. EXPERIENCED MOMMY OF 6. GOD BLESS!!!

I think the most common time to get an ultrasound is between 20-24 weeks.
With two of my pregnancies I had ultrasounds much earlier than this, though. One was at 7 weeks to confirm the preg and actually just make me feel better (I had a miscarriage one year prior and was worried)....turned out to be twins (had a LOT of ultrasounds with that preg!).
The other was because I had had a miscarriage but things didn't really seem "right"...the ultrasound confirmed the miscarriage but also confirmed that there was a surviving twin!

My doctor does the first ultrasound between 8 and 12 weeks along (the first visit.) Mine is tomorrow and I'm very excited. Then I get another one on 16 to 20 weeks. Good luck

with my 1st son i was 4 weeks pregnant, i had an early ultra sound because i was having bad cramps.
with my 2nd son (who is due in 6 weeks) i was 10 weeks. which was when i found out it was a little boy
but usually the first ultrasound done is at 18 - 21 weeks (4 months).
oh and congratulations

I had my first u/s on my first ob appointment. I also had another the following month. Wasn't expecting it and didn't necessarily "need" it but the doc wanted to check the heartbeat and since I was only 11 weeks he was certain he wouldn't be able to find it with the Doppler and just decided to take a look instead.

As long as everything is normal and you aren't having any problems with your pregnancy, the first ultrasound is scheduled around the 20th week.

I got my first one at about 16 weeks, it was also when they told us we were having a girl. From what I have heard from other women, its typically 3 or 4 months into your pregnancy.
