Here is a message that is going around...

(This message sent to you on the belief that you support a variety of anything, or in this case music, and would object to things becoming rubber stamps of each other...) ;)

They have replaced a unique & well loved jazz station (The OASIS... in operation on various FM locations since the late 80's) with YET ANOTHER R&B station. Hey, I like R&B too, but there's already one or two of those, and yet only one Jazz station.

What we have below is the explaination of what's happened, and kind words telling where the station is now. Some of you will be happy to know it still exists in some form. The change was sudden and without much warning.

For the rest of us who cannot stream audio at work over the internet, or have the money (or interest) to get a HD radio yet, this is hard hit. Many around where I work who could quickly get through a hard day with the Oasis now find themselves without a station they relied on for concert information, and just to simply relax in a stressful work environment.

If you are bothered by a unique station becoming yet another station, if you are upset that you don't have a tunable jazz station on a standard FM radio in the Dallas/Forth Worth area, then I suggest you let what's left of the OASIS know immediately.

(My CREATIVE SOLUTION to this problem that I've written them is to leave the OASIS on the tunable channel, and put the other format on the new HD format. The Jazz station has been there for years, why change it?)

The Oasis was incredible. I remember the time and day it went off. However, there were good times and easiness during its time on radio. I remember living in my apartment, and keeping the Late Night Oasis on all night. Getting up in the middle of the night and having a cup of coffee to Richard Elliott, Rippingtons, Jazz Masters, etc. Miss the Oasis and all it offered......

Lots of people saw it, and they guy, who claimed he was an Israeli turned out to be a criminal on parole, his parole was revoked for other reasons and he's in jail. The story of the film was not confined to here, many countries had information that the cause of the unrest, which wasn't confined that day to Americans or Benghazi was due to the film clip. It was meant to provoke and it did.
