Most motorcycles are cheaper and get better gas mileage, however if you want to stay alive I would get a car....

You can get a light weight bike, new that over all is a lot cheaper to operate, insure and own then a car.

Caution on some of the big bikes...they can cost more then a car.

Just remember and think about riding in bad weather. Wet, cold and risky. Make sure you take the motorcycle safety class and don't fall for the loud pipes save lives myth. All that does is prevent you from hearing traffic. Get a REAL loud horn.

2002 Harley Superglide $13,000
2003 Dodge Stratus SXT $14,000

Insurance costs:
Harley $325 year
Stratus $584 year

Gas mileage:
Harley 36-53 MPG
Stratus 23-28 MPG

Value of the Harley when it's 10 years old will be around $10,000 and the Stratus will be worth around $3,000.

The Harley is cheaper to maintain, more fun to ride, is great for a 3 week trip from Ohio to Colorado, and is an excellent stress releiver.
The Stratus carries more than 2 people, lots of groceries, and is a lot more comfortable in rain or through the Winter.

Of course a motorcycle is cheaper. But insurance varies. The money in gas you save on a mc is alot if you ride enough. Last longer, not to sure but probably because you dont ride a mc in the snow and rain witch causes rust and so on.

For several years my only transportaton was my '86 Honda Rebel 250..... perfect girl's bike, by the way, light enough to pick up if I dropped it (which I never did, thank God) and small enough for me to put my feet flat on the ground at a stoplight. Looks like a little Harley, too, a lot of people mistake it for one. Great gas mileage, fun to ride, and could keep up with the big dogs on a run. I rode it year round. Parking is never a problem. The only real drawbacks are getting groceries, (which can be done in small trips, I have a bungee net and strap 'em to the seat) and when it is freezing rain, it hits your face like needles. A full face helmet steams up too bad to see, and there's no windshield wiper on a helmet! Liability is way cheaper because bike riders don't CAUSE accidents. I picked mine up for $900 and it had less than 1,000 miles on it. I think you could probably find one today for maybe $1300 or so......... Do take the safety rider's course, and NEVER drink or drug when you're gonna ride. Good luck.
Oh, and a girl on a bike gets a lot of looks and a lot of respect. ;-)

Most motorcylces are cheaper than cars, but depending on age is how much your going to pay for insurance.

Remember many motorcylce accidents happen due to another person's fault. You could be the best motorcylce rider in the world and still get t-boned rear ended by a person not paying attention to the road and that sure does sound painful.

motorcycles are bullseyes for little old ladies at traffic stops. Motorcycles have a bad mortality rate with them and offer absolutely no protection between you and the road. Between you and me I love motorcycles and think they are an awesome vehicle but I would not care to risk my self for a cheap thrill.

Think about having a wreck or someone hitting you on a motorcycle. Then a car makes a whole lot more sense!!

car. even though motorcylcles r cheaper and get much better gas mileage, a car is an all year round vehicle, whereas (depending where you live) a motorcycle is a summer ride.
