i own a repair shop,,and there is a blower motor resistor mounted on the heater box ,,it has gone bad on it,,mine does the same thing i only have 3&4 speed on it,,im going to fix it before cold weather gets here,,there,s 2 little screws that hold it on,and then you un plug the wires from it,,there easy to do and cost around 20 bucks i think for a new one,,i usually go to a junk yard and get a used one for 2 bucks they last as long as a new one usually does, good luck with it,i hope this help,s.

Since you don't mention what kind of car you have or any other useful information...

...there's usually a little resistor pack somewhere (possibly near the blower motor) that is most likely the culprit. It'll have like 5 big, heavy different colored wires going into it. This is, of course, if you have one of those (some vehicles use a different system to alter the blower motor's current and/or voltage).

I had the same problem in a '98 Honda Accord. It was the fan switch.

It could be the fan switch or that you need a new filter or also that because it's an american car, it was bound to happen sometime.

check your fuses. or it could be your fan belt in the small motor that blows.
