I don't regret having her, I love her, she is a Golden Retriever. We went through 8 weeks of training with her at Petsmart and it was wonderful. She is an indoor puppy, so my only regret or gripe is her shedding everywhere, all the time.
Research your breeds very well. Get to know the particular animal you want, interact with it, remember each animal has a different personality. It has been a great experience for my family.
Good luck to you

I have 5 dogs 3 cats 2 kids and 1 husband and i would not trade any of them for the world. Having a pet is a full time job and if you are not ready for the responsibility then please refrain. I treat my pets like a member of the family so I expect the same kind of obedience and attention as my children. Maybe more so. I train dogs so this really is not a factor for me but if you feel that you do not have the time or do not want to spend it training then please do not get a pet just to make them and yourself miserable. It will. Having a pet is a big responsibility and should not be taken lightly. look at my name here I am not lying. The work is SO worth the reward. Good luck and love your pet and they will reciprocate the emotion.

When getting a new pet remember it takes time for everyone to get used to eachother. We have dog who is now a year and a half and he is only turning into a better dog as the time goes by. I wouldn't trade him for the world. Before we got him though I did alot of research on his breed and any training hint help tons. Enrolling in a training class is always a great idea too. We only train with praise never with a heavy hand! Remember lots of love and treats can go along way =)

Don't get a parrot - unless you like big messes and want to spend alot more time cleaning a cage than you would a litter box or using a pooper scooper for a dog.
The parrot also SCREAMS alot - and will not stop sometimes. I don't think birds make good pets really at all - they are too wild. I know other parrot owners will disagree with me. But my parrot was given to us by a woman who didn't want her and we felt we had to rescue her. I was not seeking to get a bird of any kind because i think it is cruel to cage an animal that can fly...
Anyway, there are alot of people who buy beautiful parrots and then dump them off at rescue's or give them away. I think it's pretty sad - people should think REALLY hard before getting a parrot.
But Yes, I love the bird and will keep her and take care of her - but it is not easy sometimes.

I have a golden retriever and shiba inu. They both can be monsters at times but I love them both so much I would never get rid of them. Just be realistic about what you can deal with. Pets are a big commitment.

I love the stupid dog but Id rather not have to deal with the barking and the grooming and the picking up the poop and the walking.

Yes. It costs too much cost and time to keep a pet.
