that employees have a life beyond work. I'm not sure I have ever worked a job where "the company comes first" was not the motto. I'm not saying that people should use their families as an excuse, or not give their all to their jobs, but there are times when a family emergency comes up, and the employee should not be given the third degree about needing time off.
