your beta is being territorial. if it is to the point where the platys are getting damaged, you have to remove either of them.

Your angel fish is probably picking at residual food on the bottom of the tank. Make sure you clean your tank thoroughly. good luck.

Hey there, I used to work at a place that sold fresh water and salt water fish. Its ok that your angelfish is picking at the gravel. Its just trying to find its surroundings. As far as you Betta they are aggressive fish no matter boy or girl. Another reason why your Betta could be picking on the platy is because the platy is injured in some way. Look for any wounds on the platy. Its only natural for other fish to pick on sick or hurt ones. It doesn't matter if its a guppy or a shark, their still going to do it.
Hope I helped.

The angelfish picking at the gravel is perfectly normal. She is probly trying to eat some leftover nummies that have settled to the bottom of your tank. As for the betta with the platys, i would just take the betta out. They are so territorial, and usually dont go after other fish except for other bettas, but it isnt uncommon that they feel threatened by other fish species.

all fish do it, they are picking up food that has fallen to the gravel. it is normal and all right. now for the platies they are a community fish and Betta's are more aggressive. they will pick on anything that gets in there territory. you need a bigger tank and some things like plants for the fish to hide in and use for cover. They will all be happier then.

bettas and platties don't get along usually. they are both territorial and like the same kind of territory. Angel fish do like to dig in gravel sometimes. If there is algae in the gravel angels are known to eat the algae. the Platties and Betta will probably fight until they get sick or die. The angel is probably ok in the gravel but may be next to get picked on.

Betta's can be very territorial but the other fish will learn to avoid her in a few days time. Since fish don't have teeth (or much of tongues) they will pick up stones to scrape their mouths clear of food. Particularly if you are feeding flakes, they tend to get stuck on the inside of their mouths.
