I understand the ticket is not legally valid until it is personally served by an officer or a court officiator who obtains a signature, since it was not delivered in person at the time of the traffic violation and they can't assume you actually received it through the mail. Hi...Don't ignore it.... You will be sorry.... I can tell you from first hand experience.... If you don't pay it then one day you are pulled over for a headlight being out then the car will come up as having a unpaid ticket against that license plate and car. If you are the owner of the car then you will be handcuffed and taken downtown.. You can cry and scream pure ignorance or don't have a clue and the police officer will not even listen to you..... You are arrested now and you can plead your case later.. this ticket will follow you and the peace of mind you will lose is NOT worth it... Pay it and set yourself free from worry

Have a friend that got one of those camera tickets in the mail. He was silly enough to send the police a picture of a $100 bill, thinking it was cool. He got a reply of a picture of a pair of hand cuffs..So he went in to pay the fine instead of getting arrested.

That being said, I ignored one ticket, and got away with it, but I think I was lucky, and you sound like you are now "in the system". To avoid a warrant for your arrest, which is slightly more severe than a speeding ticket, I suggest sucking it up and paying. Like the person above mentioned, I sweated that one for ten years...very lucky indeed.
Otherwise, call a lawyer. I'm sure they could find an excuse for your uncivilized behavior!
