I'm pretty right- I feel that Thomas Jefferson had things right with his "lase faire" ideology- (French for "hands off")

I think that people who earn money should be able to keep it, spend it as they see fit. Those who are able to earn money but choose (for whatever reason) not to... I don't think it's right for them to sit on their thumbs and still live high on the hog.

I don't agree with the coddling that would happen if the "left" were to get their way. People will be stronger (physically, emotionally, economically, etc) if they are allowed/required to stand on their own, provide for their own.

Even though I have a brother who is gay, I don't approve of "gay marriage"... it's a religious issue for me. As the saying goes- "God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve."

I feel abortion is inherently wrong. There are rare circumstances where I feel abortion should be tolerated (NEVER encouraged!!)- where the woman/girl did not have a choice... rape, incest or other abuse... There are other options. (Adoption isn't about abandoning your child- it's about giving that baby what you can't provide on your own.) Choice IS important... so why shouldn't the baby have some?

Did I cover all the "hot" topics?

I hope you get a lot of answers to this question and I hope I win the prize of best answer.

I am not exactly sure what is meant by right and left anymore.

The Democrats are said to be on the left and I use to believe that the left stood for people. That is people mattered, The old help those less fortunate , protecting the welfare of all when ever possible, creating the greater good for all.
But President Clinton and his wife change some of those assumptions. I won't bore all of you with my rants against former president Clinton.

I use to think the right stood for less government and fiscal responsibility. They were mostly interested in what business wanted.
Now President Bush is certainly NOT fiscally prudent or what I would consider responsible nor has he reduced the government as the right has said it wants to do.

If they have reduced the government it has been to benefit the richest in the land by reducing over-site & certain regulations.

I would have to say that I lean in the direction of helping the people over helping non-people corperate beings ( that have some how gained people/human status )

I am for the people because people matter and I happen to be a person (singular people) BUT I am also for a fiscally responsible pay as you go government. I like the idea of less government as far as personal habits go but either more government or better regulation as far as things to control non-living corperat beings in order to make sure that things these beings do are safe for all involved ( i.e. polution, workers safety, general honesty etcetera)

I would guess I am on the far left leaning to the right which would put me in the middle.

I hope you get a lot of anwsers to this question and I hope I win the prize of best answer.

Libertarian Right because I believe in freedom.

The left would give you freedom by:
Taking away your guns
Taking away your property (Kelo)
Taking away freedom of speech (Fairness Doctrine)
Allow heinous murderers to live in the name of compassion
Pretend terrorist do not want to kill us, they would achieve victory through surrender.
Give you more freedom by taxing you at a higher rate.

I could go on for hours but I think you get the point. I am actually very Liberal on most social issues, I believe both Democrats and Republicans do a poor job at keeping their noses out of peoples personal business, each does an equally poor job.

Left.

I have a bleeding heart, and I don't like corporate suits. I want world peace and no war. I believe in rights of the individual, not the right of the state making my decisions. I don't want religion making the rules I live by, and I don't want anyone's religion a reason to go to jail. I wonder why people can't be nicer and just go with the flow.

Somehow that never seems to place me in the radical right, and that's okay with me.
