You have to have a "relationship" mating the ipod to your pc. If your ipod got its tunes from another computer, then the copy of itunes on your pc will not allow you to download the tunes onto your pc.

Assuming you have the ipod mated to your pc...
1. Connect the ipod to your pc with the USB or Firewire cable that came with your ipod.
2. Open itunes and wait for the program to acknowledge your ipod. It will show up on the left side of the itunes screen.
3. Then you can transfer music from the itunes library onto your ipod. Itunes will erase anything on your ipod if it did not come from the pc's library. If you have the ipod's preferences set to Manual transferring, you can avoid automatically erasing and changing the ipod's internal library.

First copy your songs to his computer then using his computer's iTunes, s/he can now put them in the iPod.

You can use iDUMP, a software that allows you to transfer your songs of your iPod to a PC. Connect your iPod and run iDump and you'll have access to all your songs, select the songs you want to transfer then pick a destination directory and how you would like your songs to be named. And then sit back and transfer all the selected songs to the PC. After that you can already add them in your music library in iTunes. It is easy to use. =)

The good news is iDump is FREE! Here is the link where you can download the software.

I have had some limited success doing this. ITunes doesn't allow you to do this and if you make a partnership between your iPod that already has music on it and a new computer iTunes will delete the entire library on the iPod. But if you use your iPod as a external hard drive you can go through the folders of it and just copy them to your computer. You will need to turn on hidden files and folders in your windows view options and go to the iPod system folder. iTunes renames all of your files to seemingly random file names and puts them in folders with seemingly random folder names. When you import these back into iTunes the ID3 tags stay the same though.
