He's talking about the shooting at the Amish school today. Grab a paper. It's not just a "white" problem. A black father killed his wife and 5 kids yesterday. It's a human problem. How do we fix it? Mandatory sentences for felony crimes to start.

It's crazy how people can pretend to be sane. Then they go out and do something like this that nobody expects and it's too late. It already happened, it can't be undone.
The thing is, this kind of stuff (even though it's sick indeed) has been going on for generations. Every once in a while, you get reminded that not everybody has a brain in their skull. The thing is, people like that just need help, maybe somebody to talk to, maybe people who care about them. People should have less fear and maybe be a little more open with their problems.
But in the end, nothing will solve it 100%. We can hope, but we can't change everybody. So the way I see it is this: the ratios stay the same, there's just more people on the planet to fill in the status quo of criminality. Some people are just horrible, but most people are completely fine, despite thoughts, attitudes, whatever. Justa s long as stupid things like this aren't put into action. This 20 year old grudge is beyond me. But all in all, there's nothing mroe or less wrong with our society than there was 1,000 + years ago. It's just that there's more of us here, right now.

The value of the human being has been replaced with the value of green pieces of paper. Competition for these pieces of paper and the 'us' vs. 'them' mentality has created schools which teach people how to hate each other for their possessions or their accomplishments. As long as people are treated like 'resources' and simply cogs in the wheels of production, they will feel trapped and helpless. Trapped and helpless animals that don't know what to do until they see someone else get a moment of fame for becoming inhuman.
And yes, the crap DID happen when you were growing up. It was YOUR generation that created it under the bullshit idea of 'free' markets and anti-establishment rhetoric that devalued the wisdom of anti-trust laws and individual opportunity programs. All those lovely pastoral country high schools full of kids being taught that the only way to succeed was to leave their families and communities and become Productive Workers for Somebody Else in the land of Homogenized Milk and Money.
Now, we are an entire country of McHumans, buying petroleum from terrorists, paying taxes to fear mongering war monkeys, and selling our children's futures to the Corporation for Homeland Comfort and Security.
If you want change, keep it in your pocket. Your dollar is your life and the System doesn't count the bodies.

Yes, we did have this problem when you were growing up. You simply were more oriented to what was happening in your little corner of life and not the pulse of the rest of the world, which is normal for kids. Of course, now we have better technology to stick bad news in your face within minutes after it happening. You don't even have to wait for the news at 6 or 10 anymore. You can have your murder video right now on CNN, etc. Lucky you.
News is biased towards the sensational, the uncommon events, not the chronic ongoing problems in certain places.

I share your anguish -- I grew up w/ Amish kids.
1. We did have such problems "when I was growing up" (the 1970's in my case). I remember a tower in Texas, or Speck and his nurses, or Helter Skelter... shall I go on?
2. "trouble with the white - race"? Not to compare crime stats... (ahem) but would you like to compare stats between races? Yes, there does seem a pattern with men, mostly white guys, go crazy and start shooting everyone. However, I'm pretty sure it's not race-based, or at least, nothing in the genetic code that makes one race "dangerous" in this way.

I read that they had 6 dead now. Maybe 3 more died that were in intensive care. Yes, your right. There is plenty wrong with society but we don't ALL go out and kill people/children. We cope, and go on with our lives. What we do have is a lot of mental illness out there. Plenty of it going untreated. Plenty more of it being pushed to the limit. Why children? They can't fight back, they're easy targets, the list goes on and on. What a tragedy! Don't get me wrong either, not ALL who suffer from mental illness go on to commit murder. That's not what I'm saying. I am saying that for a person to do "this sort" of thing.....mental illness is definitely part of the equation.

I think this has nothing to do with race just a sick being. Our society is corrupt. whether it be on news, games, TV, movies or in our own homes violence is very prevalent in our society. Where do we fall short as a race is irrelevant its when did we start making violence okay and revenge our corner stone. So feel bad for the children but not for you race.

For some reason you just don't expect that sort of thing in Amish country. But several years ago a young man attacked a group of Amish children walking home from school and killed 9 of them.
Why children? Because they can't defend themselves?
God must weep sometimes.

T^he world is sick. It's not just American white men. Look at all the Islamists who have murdered thousands of innocent people. Blacks, whites, hispanics and asians murder every day. The news media wants us to see the white mens' murders. That their political correctness.
I was very saddened when I heard about those girls today.

I don't know but holding a grudge for 20 years without letting it out is truly sick and cowardly what he did. This is a tragedy of the worst kind... upon a totally harmless, hardworking, God fearing community. There are no words to express my feelings about this crazy world we live in.
