My friend had a very light period for about three days, all the blood that came out was a brownish color she also passed a clot. Her period was early by a few days and wasn't nearly as long as it normally is or as heavy. I told her to take a pregency test today and she did this afternoon, and it came up negative. Could she still be pregnant?

I forgot to mention that you could barely tell it was negative, but the practice strip was really dark, so could that meant it was faulty?

I believe it's possible because many women experience spotting while pregnant (a coworker of mine told me how her cousin got pregnant and didn't know for ages because she thought that spotting was her period). However, there are lots of other things that could disrupt her period. I'd advise that she go see a doctor to check it out; also, pregnancy blood tests that doctors give are way more accurate than the kind you buy at the pharmacy.

it's possible, but she should check with the doctor if she's still concerned. the only way to guarantee pregnancy is a blood test or to have an ultrasound. Blood tests are hard to come by if you don't have insurance or a regular doctor and the money to pay for it. If you don't have insurance, check the yellow pages for abortion clinics. HOLD IT!!! I didn't say you even need to consider abortion, but they have ultrasound machines and can administer them at relatively low cost. Ironicly, that's how I found out when my baby was ACTUALLY due. My last period had been the beginning of June and I actually conceived the beginning of November. The "period gestation" thing didn't work for me. The best part was the lady who gave me the ultrasound was not only glad I wanted the baby, but she also waived the fee! I got a free ultrasound...check around...you'd be surprised what kind of resources you can find...

She could be, but my guess is probably not. Sounds like more hormonal to me. This is not unusual, but I do recommend a check-up to be sure that there are no other problems. Besides, if she is concerned, a simple blood serum test should tell for sure if she is pregnant. Tell her to get the check-up. It can't hurt and it just makes sense.

she could be, it is possible to get a wrong negative test or she may be too early to know.
if she was pregnant and misscarried her pregnancy would have been heavier.
if she still hasnt had a period she should prob go to the DR and get a blood test

Its not pregnancy. Probably a menstrual cycle irregularity. Has your friend been under any physical or emotional stress lately? Stress is the most common factor for change in menstrual cycle. Physical stress includes sudden heavy exercising, fad diets, obesity, etc.

that kinda of period isnt that abnormal, the shortened lenghth could be caused mby poor apetite, stress, or a number of things. To be sure tho, she needs to go to the doctor inorder to confirm the test and make sure everything is alright
