hey I know that Im taking a master in history of mexican art can you contact me in yahoo mesenger that would be easier but I can told you that they have two caalendars a 260 day one that was a ritual one and a 365 days one that was solar and civil calendar the long count I have to check

Ok I check it the first inscription that they had found is in the time o f the proto clasic of the mayan culture and is a mitic time with correpondence with the year 3114a.C. and from then they make the count you see how many days (kines) months of 20 days (uinales) years (360 days ( tunes) a 20 year period next ( katunes) and a period of 400 years baktunes) that is the long count the short count or ritual calendar is based on the moon and has ritual meaning it was used in the religious context but the long count one is for every day life and inscriptions

I forgot to be more specific they dont have a real coincidence one is for religion based on the moon and the other civil but..... well... nop I cant think in a coincidence the second calendar the moon based was not to mesure time was more like a social events agenda....very roughly said but that was.... and edont forget that the mayan calendar and they numbers based in positions and counted in units of 20 ( 20 is the more that you can represent in an simbol) was decontinuated whit the nqahuatl mode ofcounting that was less sophisticated
