I wanted to be a teacher, but I did not do well in school as a young girl. I am sure I had some learning problems related to reading that would have been quickly diagnosed today. I really enjoyed English and writing.
I loved listening to adults sharing stories of travel...so after high school I found my way into the travel business. I worked my way into the convention/incentive business and travelled the world and escorted groups/tours.
I eventually got married and had a family. When my children were small, I worked part time as an editorial assistant at local newspaper and did a few feature assignments.
When they were in school all day, I went back into the travel business until 9/11 - and then sadly it was not the same for obvious reason. I now work for a municipality and absolutely love my job because I have alot of responsiblities that include people and writing and visitors to my city.
Thanks for asking - it was a great reflection!
Good luck with your education and your teaching career!

I've always had a penchant to write ever since I was in the first grade. Back then I wanted to obtain a vocation as a novelist.
Today, I still have that penchant.. I can't seem to forsake my childhood desire. I always find myself wanting to write. My mind has also been introduced to drawing. I invest a lot of attention towards politics and the news, so a vocation as an artist, a lawyer or a position in government are now likely possibilities. I'm still in school, so I guess anything can happen from here on.

When I was a child,I wanted to help people when I was older, but I wasn't sure really what I wanted to do.I thought I wanted to be a nurse, but when I did work experience at high school I did my work experience in a hospital to see what it would be like to be a nurse.I spent most of my time in the hospital crying as I felt so sorry for all the patients, some had never been without their mothers, some were dying. The whole experience upset me.Now I am an holistic counsellor. So I am not far of the mark on what I wanted to be when I grew up.(and yes I have on the odd occasion cried when a client has told me some thing sad,but I am able to control myself the longer I am in this job).

When I was growing up I wanted to be a good wife and mother. I wanted to have lots of children and live in a nice house and go to a good church.
I was a stay at home mom until my children were in school and when I went to work I worked just two days a week. I wanted to be be able to take them to school and pic them up.
Have warm cookies waiting and dinner ready at 5:30pm sharp.
We ate dinner together every night and while one of us cleaned the kitchen the other got started on homework with the kids.
I was a hairdresser for one year in 1973.
Today at 52 I'm single and work for the nations largest HMO as a Physician Compensation Associate.
great question!

I wanted to be a stay at home mom. I was a manager and worked from the time my youngest started school until my first grandchild was 6 months old.
Now I am a stay at home grandmother and I keep 4 of my 6 grandchildren. I have custody of two of them.
So I guess I am doing what I dreamed of. I just had to wait a while.

Ha! Ha! Good question. I've never thought about it. You made me think about it....yes, it was a long time ago. Anyway, ...I wanted to be...are you ready?,,,,I wanted to be Olivia Newton-John. Ok, Ok, get over it already. I know!....But it was the 70's and I was young and impressionable. She was so pretty, blond, and could sing like a bird. All the guys liked her. I wanted to be her. I even sang with my brothers band in the mid-eighties.....oh yes...trying to hit those notes with that breathy whispering style that Olivia, "Liv" as we fans called her.....had. And I pulled it off too. All though I was a brunette and sounded more like Karen Carpenter. Oh well. It was a blast while it lasted. My brother still has his band.....he plays every weekend in San Francisco at different clubs. Me? Well, I'm a housewife, no kids, no singing career...but damn it....I'm still a brunette! And proud of it! :) For all you young folks out there who are going.."who's Olivia Newton-John?" or....."Karen....who?".....all I can say is.....never mind. The 70's and 80's rocked!!!
