ok, i'm a placement manager at an employment agency. most of the time our positions are based on general labor, assembly, loading and unloading, etc. the catch is that they are jobs that pay minimum wage, $6.50..... as a person i understand that people don't want to work their butt off for only that amount of money. ofcourse, as an agency this is what we do... we offer only this kind of jobs, very rarely, do we offer better paying jobs. i've been working here for a short period, i'm under the looking glass, lol. so now i have to come up with 5 ideas to excite people into accepting these $6.50 per hour jobs, now here's where you might be able to help... any ideas on how to excite people into taking these positions??? please help remember the looking glass....

the high scholl drop outs are'nt reliable for the most part, they dont have a car most of the time and they also know that they don't have to answer to anyone if they don't go or if they walk out, which i guess that applies to every one, not jusy high scholl drop outs. for the people that say thyey really need a jod, well, they too are picky, nowadays people are very lazy and unwilling no matter how much the necessity. those are a couple of the many reasons i need adviced.... : (

about incentives and bonuses, what are good ideas??? once they take the job how can we let them know that we appreciate that they are showing up for work, that they show up on time and so on. i mean it's about them taking the job and about staying there as long as the assingmnet goes on. we make money from the companies that need temps. so we need to keep them (companies) happy, as well as the temps.....

Well, sometimes in situations where the material rewards are low, its useful to build up the non-material. For instance, you might try and create ways for people to have friends and acquaintances at your agency, so that they look forward to seeing other people there. Or you could allow people to work together on multiple person jobs if they want to do so. Having friends and familiar faces helps in lousy working conditions.

(1) Present it as an opportunity for advancement. You start here but can end up in a different position quickly. (2) This will provide you with the immediate income that you seek. (3) Job skill knowledge, the skills you learn on the job in this position will be used in future opportunities. (4) An excellent opportunity to get out and meet people. The people you meet on this job may well end up being life long friends. And (5) Not only is this an excellent opportunity for you but because of the current situation, their are additional openings for which your friends can apply too.

Hmm, well you can tell people something like, let's start with this job and see how you do with it and go from there. You may have opportunity to grow with that company and make more money. (is that true, tho?) Also explain to them that at this point (the point of UNemployment) any money is better than no money and they can always keep looking for something better. Tell them that even if they find something else it will look better to their next employer that they were willing to work the lower paying job rather than doing nothing. Tell them it shows responsibility.

I cant really think of anything that would excite them to take these jobs as if there is no growth opportunity with that company they will have to know it is only until they find something better.

Hi,

from the wage you offer, I guess who can be offer is part time student, imigran ppl, jobless person.
If your target employee is above so they will accept the wage. but the approach to convince them is different.
for student (part timer) maybe you can tell them this job will be as experience before graduate and also can have more money.
for imigran, of course mostly in their country they paid less than $6.50. believed this is not a problem to convince them either.
for jobless person, they really need some work either so not so difficult to attract them.

or maybe you can increase little bit the wage from other labour agent so it's will be some kind of attraction.

CHEERS !!

i honestly cant be of much help, but i am looking for work right now. And i would take a job that paid that much (because i really really need the money) but only until i found something else. I bet thats probably not something you could say to the people who come in, but its just about the only reason i would take it. temporary.
