For example, I really love "classical" music, but my husband picks on me because I ride around listening to the Classics channel on XM.(I'm a classical pianist/piano teacher, my husband's just a sweet, down-to-earth country guy-opposites attract, I guess!) With so many genres of music today, how many of you just really love classical music- do you prefer it over any other music? I do, and I'm just wondering if I'm the minority here. Thanks!!

Well, classical and country is a bit of an odd mix. My parents love country, and I can't stand it. I love almost every other type of music, except country.

I love classical, but I don't expect people to share my tastes, especially since I love organ music by Marcel Dupre, Messiaen, of course Bach, Widor, Franck, etc. -- although many of my friends have attended loud organ recitals with me. The organ is my favourite of the instruments, but I also love piano, harpsichord, vocal performances, etc.

Good luck ... maybe your husband will like some of the beautiful pieces by Mozart, in time. As for the country field, I can listen to it, but it is the last thing that I would purposely choose (although I do like Dolly Parton, mainly because she is such a fun, "up" person).

I love classical music. I'm taking a semester of music appreciation because I know that I will get to learn more about the music I love! I love all genres of music but classical is at the top.

I like classical music but it isn't in my top 5-6 musical catagories honestly. I got in to it during a college course I took. The thing that bothers me is that certain things are not considered "classical" music. Certain soundtracks are classical to me but aren't given the same treatment because they were written by some dead guy from centuries past. I do think people need to try listening to classical more because they would enjoy it. I just hate the DJ's on those stations. They usually sound like they are about to fall asleep and it doesn't lend it self to encouraging you to listen.

NO...you are not a minority! I love Chopin and Handel! I think that Mozart can be invigorating on the drive to work. I love soundtracks of movies just because of the classical music scores in their backrounds.

Classical is the basis for all mathematic principle!

Very few non-musician, actually.

Brain scans of people listening to "classical" music are vastly different than those of people listening to "top 40" etc.

It's a right and left brain thing....enjoyed both for it's beauty and it's structure.

I love it, but I spent years studying it and how it's created.

I was raised on classical. I love it. To get the kind of emotion that it gets without lyrics is just amazing!
