Do you think having schools hire a security guard and have people go through a security check would do any good (the same type of check you need to go through to enter police stations and government offices)

People need to find a way to ban violent games like Grand Theft Auto. Take all this violent shows about murder and explict material off TV. Make apropriote movies that boost good morals and good taste. Even if there is violence let it be like the Patriot for example. The people a Rockstar (makers of Grand Theft Auto) are making a game called BULLY which will be released this month, is about a boy that go to school and bullies other kids. Hits them with fists, shovels, etc. Content like this should not be sold.

No that won't do any good. It doesn't do any good in Washington DC or in Iraq. If someone wants to kill and ravage people they will plan it and take action. That just means they crash through with a car first, or pull the gun at the metal detector and shot the guard first.

Our political correctness is catching up with us. People aren't allowed to discipline their kids because its considered abuse. Now the kids are out of control, not afraid of their parents or adults.

Granted not all kids need that type of discipline, but put the fear of a beating in a kid for doing something wrong and you curtail most of the behavior before it gets out of hand.

Soldiers standing at checkpoints get killed everyday in Iraq, even when they are wearing full body armor. Its like being the guy on point during a sweep. The guard and/or the guy on point is there to catch the first bullet so everyone else has time to react. Guards are mostly a show of force and to catch those people that aren't really ready or serious about the attack. Those that are serious will take out the guard before he knows they have a gun.

Beefed up security will do very little to stop it. You need to stop promoting "giving attitude", "bling" and being the top dog and having the biggest and the best.

Even grand theft auto isn't the problem. Take a whole nation make them feel they have no control of their lives and you'll see them fight for control of their lives. The US public has been fed with fear and superiority for years. The same is happening in the UK. School kids getting shot in the middle of the day in McDonalds in an ordinary city centre. Sound familiar?

The same pattern is taking shape but we have a much bigger problem than the US.

In the UK people fight for pleasure.

prompt reaction : from the united kingdom (Britainistan) perspective, it replaced into ideas-blowing that the Christmas / holiday Tree argument did no longer lead the place i replaced into looking forward to, nor replaced into Islam ever suggested. Stylistically : I questioned why i found it such a compelling examine in spite of if it includes some non-sequiturs to declare the least. This guy sounds like an extremely existence like, humane guy. could be as a results of stability and rhythm, nicely-built sentences etc. I doubt (specifically from info gleaned in this august communicate board) that usa of america is "an explicitly atheist u . s .". he's such a competent author that i could a minimum of undergo to verify his take on the drained 'if God is nice, how could He enable this to ensue' question. I enjoyed the paragraph approximately Dr.Spock and experience of right and incorrect. perhaps that shows my age. i'm the right age to bear in mind what it replaced into like until now efficient 'vanity', 'function fashions' etc took over. each and every paragraph is somewhat-argued, yet I reluctantly suspect that the full, in spite of the undeniable fact that nicely-written, provides as much as an incoherent rant.

Imma honestly say.... that is the least we have to worry about in school... it is scary, but i am in high school and there are things that will affect us long term... drugs being sold in school, the drinking rate among teens, pregnat girls, education being a joke.... if we stop some of this crap it really would stop all the shootings, because people would have something better to do with there time.... I agree with all you people up there, but you don't go to school and if they did that things don't get better... treat us like animals and criminals... that is exactly what we will end up acting like over years...

Checkpoints with metal detectors at every entrance would be terribly expensive, schools in general cannot afford it.

A much more reasonable solution is to encourage teachers to carry guns and train them in their use. Obviously only teachers who are interested would participate. Still, even a small percentage of armed teachers would have a big effect. School shooting atrocities become atrocities only because nobody is in a position to offer resistance until police arrive sometime later.

We could be using government funding to put at least 4 policemen to a school or heavily protected metal detectors to indicate any weaponry of some sort.

I guess schools should be in lock down mode during school hours and guard at door to let parents in. Oh that's what you wrote too, I just read your heading. yes definitely guards.
