Usually over weight people have this problem. During deep sleep the throat muscles relax and block the air passage through the larynx thus snore. This is a serious problem that can lead to complications later on. In some cases the blockage can be severe enough to choke him and keep him from breathing (apnea), after a minute or so he will gasp for air and the cycle will start again. In the morning and during the day he might feel tired or sleepy, lack of concentration and irritability.

The best solution #1 is to loose weight, #2 sleep on his side (use two pillows) or face down. In some extreme cases surgery can remove excess tissue and fix the problem.

Nasal strips are a waist of money. Snoring occurs at the throat not the nose!

Good luck!

This was a personal frustration of mine for a long time. What is probibly happening is that your husband is breathing thru his mouth instead of his nose. get some breath rite nose strips and tell him to close his mouth whenever he starts to snore. after wearing this for a month my boyfriend doesn't snore anymore. and he doesn't have to wear the strips anymore. enjoy some peacefull sleep!
