I know that there is a program at the local Employment Division here in Oregon, at least there is in Salem, for ex convicts. I am not quite sure of all of the help they give to ex cons, but I do know that they try to help them to get a job. Maybe check with the local Employment Division and find out what they have. If they don't have anything, then maybe they can lead him to where he needs to go.

The answer to this question is self help. The`system is setup for most ex-cons to fail. They are jailed, sit idle in a prison system, then released with no rehabilitation. They get out into society and try to fill out applications. One question stops them in their tracks. Have you been convicted of a felony in the last ten years? Lie or tell the truth? That is one of the reasons why 3 out of 4 cons go back to prison within the first year of release. I would suggest finding a labor job in construction. There are some programs the government created that help pay part of the wages of felons to employers for hiring them.

I have worked with "good" ex cons. I do not see the problem.
Their time has been payed, and they should deserve a job!
I thought training was supplied by the prison- guess not.
I hope everything will work out for him well. Prison/jail is like a death sentence with all the AIDS!
Hopefully, he does not have that.
If he absolutely can not find a job, then he shoud try ssi or disability., there is an exclusion for non-hireables. If he served time in the militarty and has a disability---there is service connected.
