I was hoping to get some help. basicly i currently have a very good laptop Inspiron 9400 computer and it has a Intel Centrino Duo Processor. Now somthing i noticed about the Centrino Duo Processors is the basic stock CPU the computer comes with, it has T2300 @ 1.66GHz of physical memory, With 512 MB of Ram. Which i see as a dinosour of a computer compared for instance with a Athlon 64 FX-60 with a whopping 2.6 GHz physical memory with a 2 x 1MB Ram. Now i know on a genral basis desktops are genraly faster systmes to work with but the queston was im looking at getting a desktop but iv heard alot about AMD'd computers! Not all good but not all bad and im looking for a computer with a very good processing unit and a very graphics and sound card system, basicly im looking for a for a computing system which is very good but 'reasonably priced' so what would u all recomend as a good computer? Thankyou for your help!

The best processors out at the moment are the Intel Core 2 Duos. If you are looking to buy a new computer, send me an e-mail with what type of stuff you want in it and what you consider a "reasonable price" and I can help you find one, I have done this for several people on here. E-mail is in my profile.

AMD does make good CPUs and their FX series is great, however, Intel did recently take the lead in the CPU market by making the Intel Core 2 Duo Series AKA Conroe. The Core 2 Duo E6300 at 1.86 GHz and 1066 MHz FBS is better than an AMD X2 4200+ and it takes about AMD X2 4600 or 5000+ to equal the Intel E6300.

****, choose AMD, you'll never regret. The reason is Athlon 64 FX-60 is really great, especially game, graphic. It's not as hot as intel processors, and it consumes less electricity. In a word, WONDERFUL!

Intel is the way to go. Well, at least I never experienced any problems and I had this same computer for over 2 years.
