You know what, near as I can remember Magic Johnson and Larry Bird were not known for their vertical leaps. There was only one Elgin Baylor, Dr. J and MJ. Concentrate on your shooting and passing and you'll be better off than trying to turn yourself into a no-championship dunking hotdog like Vince Carter.

There are special shoes you can wear around the house called "strength shoes" that will straighten and tone your leg muscles. I advise against ankle weights as they strain both the joints in your ankles and knees. Instead, buy a weight vest - used if possible - that allows you to add small individual weights to it - usually in 4-ounce increments. This allows you to spread the entire weight of the vest over all your frame and spares the stress on your growing joints. Wear the weight vest around the house after school and on weekends. SLOWLY increase your activity level while wearing the vest while also increasing the weight in the vest. AT THE FIRST SIGN OF STIFFNESS OR SORENESS IN YOUR KNEES AND/OR ANKLES, DECREASE THE WEIGHT IN THE VEST OR STOP WEARING IT UNTIL THE STIFFNESS OR SORENESS DISAPPEARS. Then resume wearing the weight vest at a lower level of weight until you are no longer aware of the extra weight.

Practice running for ur take offs(basics),do squats to make your lifting easy even if your heavy and use ankle weights or heavy footwears, just anything to make your weight heavy but thats when your practicing, thats to make you lighter when you switch to normal gears, when you want to check your progress use your normal size of kicks and then try a jump, trust me you'll feel like your jumping out of the building.
