a 1gb stick uses a slightly different seek logic because of its higher density than a 512mb stick, partitioning it will do nothing, but usually 512mb sticks are only about 20-30$ depending on what type, so either return the 1gb or buy an additional one

Hmm... I'm not sure if you can partition a USB flash memory drive or not. Interesting question. Try going to Start > Run > compmgmt.msc and hit enter. Then click on 'Disk Management' and see if you can partition it that way. Partition Magic won't do it because its a removable drive but the XP disk management thingy might.

You cant partition a Usb stick. Its a flash drive and not like a normal hard disk. If its still in new condition, sell it on ebay or something like that then buy the 256 ones.

Go to A-data site and download format utility. Use it to make 512 MB normal partition and 512 secure area and try again with DVD. Hope it will work. Warning secure area means secure :):)Don't lost password.

USB sticks use a kind of memory called flash. You cannot partition a flash memory. Sorry.

I think that you can try to use FDISK ..and delete the old partition and create two new partitions. BE CAREFUL to be sure you are not formatting your hard drive..be sure it's the usb stick that you are formatting. When done with FDISK then format each partition that you created.

It seems such as you the two have the RAM in the incorrect slots, or u choose 4 same sticks. maximum possibly your RAM slots are colour coded? So in case you have like 2 yellow slots and 2 black slots (twin channel), then placed the two 1GB sticks in the two yellow slots, and the two 512MB sticks in the two black slots and notice if that facilitates. if no longer, then u could desire to get 2 greater same 1GB sticks to verify your different 2 1GB sticks.
