i just got my period today. it is way heavier than usual and its probably the worst pain i have ever felt in my abdomen. my lower back is killing me and i cant get enough sleep. my period was about a week late and i had been wondering if i was pregnant--i just had this gut feeling i was. i have taken a hpt but its negative, but it is also too early to tell b/c i would only be 3 weeks at the most. i know women can have their period while pregnant, but i also know this could be a sign of miscarrying also. im going to go see a doc asap, but until then any ideas??

You could have had a chemical pregnancy and then miscarried. It happened to me. Here's more information on chemical pregnancy. It sounds as if that' what it could have been.

You may have had a miscarriage, with what you are discribing the back pain may be a sign. I have had two myself and I know the pain goes for your abdomen and raps around to your back. Although, a rare chance that you may have just been having a heavier period then normal. I know that when you come late sometimes your period can be a bit heavier. Seeing a doctor is a good thing, depending on how far along you were if it was a misscarriage you may need whats called a D/C to get out anything that may be left and to prevent infection and stop any bleeding if there is any. I hope this helps, Good Luck!!

U were prob just late on your period. It doesnt sound like pregnancy to me. If u were late then u would be cramping pretty bad beacause it is catching up to you. I have felt those a few times. If u had any symptoms such as pregnancy those were prob just pre menstrual symptoms which u cant tell the difference in most women. Women can have late periods for a number of reasons such as stress, being sick etc. women cannot have there period during pregnancy, they can however have light bleeding that might resemble a period but it will not be heavy and there will be no pain associated with it. Still go to your doctor to make sure but it is prob just bad period symptoms.
Good Luck!!

well, the more that u stress about not gettin your period and thinking your pregnant can cause a heavier period.. the stress you are feeling can cause physical reactions. you probably weren't but you could have been and if you have any unusual discharge anything that looks "fleshy" keep it. i know it's gross but put it in the fridge and take it to your doc. for them to analyze. it might be a polyp or it could be a miscarriage and they can tell you for sure. i know all this cuz it happened to me...

A blood test is the only sure way to know if you are (or were) pregnant. Make sure to get one at the doc's.

Cramping can extend ot the lower back, as well as the abdomen. I had back labor with my first child.

I wish you the best.

No you are not pregnant. It may be a miscarriage but more likely the anxiety you were placing upon yourself has made your period late and heavy.

I personally think it may have been a miscarriage, but what do I know? If the pain was very harsh, I would bet on miscarriage. Good luck.
