Do not take anymore. It should have kicked in by now. You may need a different medication. Call your doctor when the office is open and tell them the pain persists after 2 Vicodin.

I've been taking Vicodin/Hydrocodone for nearly three years now. For chronic pain of course. And it seems to kick in about 15-20 minutes. I'm surprised I haven't had to increase my dosage after all this time, but I haven't.
I agree with the pharmacy lady. Also, were you under other medicines at the time. Like, were you discharged from the hospital after receiving morphine or anything else. This may cause an effect on the Vicodin.
Good luck and don't take anymore.

Have you ever taken Vicodin before? This can be factor on how long it takes. Usually if your body isn't use to the medication it would only take 30-60 min.. Another factor is if you have ever taken medicactions/drugs that have a stronger effect than Vicodin. If so, Vicodin may not even work for you at all. And another one to consider is have you have you had anything to eat? If you eat right before or soon after you have taken the medication it should take effect in about 30 min., if you didn't have anything toeat it may not take effect at all.

Usually any kind of pills will kick in within 45 minutes to an hour. If you're used to taking narcotics though, your body may not respond to a low dose of the pills. Everyone is different. Your doctor may have to change your medicine if it isn't working.

It should only take 20-30 minutes. They may just not be the right pain killer for you. Unfortunatley, you can't just "take more", because although you may not feel the effects, it is still in your system. Taking too much of a drug like this can be very dangerous.

they are in with darvon, methadone and they work on the brain. if you feel something that is because they are not intended to go to where you hurt they go to the brain centers and cut off from there rather than to the problem, be it known you are dealing with a high quality of pain killers intentions here so the reaction you want to be looking for is in your mind so that the pain centers that were aggravated are taken off broad casting from the brain for awhile
