I have a friend I was in the Marine Corps with, he was discharged with a Bad Conduct Discharge, and he operates a used car auctions/trade in departments of one of the most reputable dealerships, and largest in America, as we speak. He was discharged for drugs. Carebeara, there are different grades of discharge, first of all, and there is a MUCH higher percentage that get out other than honorably than you think, I know persoanlly of about 15-and that was just in my unit.......Carebeara-you know not.

To name just TWO, that I know a handful of, Steve McQueen was dishonorably discharged from the Marines.....and I do not know which branch he served in, but Walt Disney was dishonorably discharged from the service, and hung his discharge papers, proudly framed, upside down, in many famous pictures that were taken of him with other people. Dishonorable is the worst, then Bad Conduct, then, Other than honorable, then ALOT of people are let go early becaasue they do not make a certain rank within a given time. AND, MOST of time you can get your discharge changed after you get out after awhile........but most people feel they didn't even have to bother, so they didn't. Carebeara, if someone is troubled by something, at least be a LITTLE informed

Depends on what you mean by "any hope".

If you're asking "will I get back into the military?" then it's highly unlikely as all the branches of service have a 0% tolerance policy. They warn you all the time about drug use, and you chose to disregard it, hoping to sneak it past. You are an adult and supposed to be responsible for your actions. Deal with it.

However... there is always hope. Take responsibility for your life and your actions. Change your attitude and behavior. Don't blame anybody else for what happens to you anymore. Get yourself out of the escape rut and make different friends. Consider returning to school and learn a trade and make a living as a productive citizen. You can't change the dishonorable discharge in your past, but you *can* change the future.

Of course there is hope for you! There is hope for everyone. Just because you got popped on drug test doesn't mean that you are a hopeless person,, everything happens for a reason take this as a learning experience and move on with your life. Look ahead and not behind because what's done is done. Draw strenght from your mistakes.

Of course. The past does not necessarily equal the future. Just get your crap together and make something of yourself.
