Whether he is a better director or actor is besides the point. He represents the Amercian Dream - The All Amercian Hero / Legend whatever you like to call it. All you Amercians out there & Hollywood for that matter, ought to be proud of him & his contributions to the movie industry.

Clint Eastwood is a better director. Even though he has been an actor longer. There are a lot of actors that really want to be directors anyway.

Neither - When he acts all his movies have the same idea/style so it is like watching the same movie over and over again. As a director, well, see above.

He was too wooden as an actor -- his movies he directs are much better movies and better choices.
