I'll bet you see both. To regular NASCAR fans, that wouldn't be unexpected. Tires will have problems enduring the competition, with the new pavement too, so, there's a whole category for slamming into the wall, so you can figure, we're gonna see a lot of yellow flags in this one. God Bless you.

The main thing is the repaving will make the track smoother.I have driven the track in the racing experiance and the north tunnel turn and the back straightaway just out of turn 2 were like hitting a speed bump at 165 mph. Then there was so many rough areas it waslike driving a wash board. So if the paving is good it will be smooth. If it gets hot it will be slick(wreck city),if it is cool then you'll see some pretty good racing.

I don't think you'll see any increase in speed. They run Talladega with the throttle wide open. I do think, because of the new track surface, that you'll see 3 and 4 wide racing. The new surface will give you multiple grooves. The higher lines will be able to carry more speed out of the turns so you may see more people passing on the outside, if their cars are setup that way. I think you'll see less wrecks because of the newer surface. If they took all the bumps out of the track, the cars won't be banging into each other as much as they used to. All in all, I think it's going to make for some great racing.

That's a good question. I'm not so sure what the races at Talladega will be like since they did the repavement.

I'm just hoping that it's not a bunch of races. Then again this is Talladega and we see some of everything there with all of the beating and banging.

Someone (I forget who) reported to expect 4 wide racing there this weekend. It was getting good reviews (test sessions, maybe?) from what I have heard about it. It won't speed anything up, like the repaving job at Vegas will (which they also added more banking), but it should maybe smooth things out a little, but still expect "The Big One".

I don't know if it will be faster or not. What may happen is the tires may wear down faster, thus we will probably see fewer pit stops with zero or two tires being taken. They pit a lot at these tracks because of the fewer fuel cells. I'm thinking that the setups may have to be more precise, too, since there will probably be more grip on the asphalt.

I don't think it's going to be any faster. I really do expect there to be more wrecks, I just hope nobody gets hurt. As I was checking out nascar.com the other day, Dale Jr. says he took a street car on the track and wrecked it, something about a small drop-off between the new paving and the safer-bearer.

Yes. I believe you are going to see more high speeds and more cars in the big one. Something just tells me that because there are some people who haven't gotten a test at the new surface. ARCA is going to be there and they have ALOT of people running their first time at the big track. Trucks are making their first stop there ever and those big bulky trucks can equal probably a couple flying in the air. And the cup series they are used to the high speeds, but they are going to be even greater speeds. Except an exciting weekend, sit back and enjoy.

I think it will make the drivers go faster and give a different feel to the track and the drivers will have to get used to it but I think because of it being faster then their will be alot more wrecks including the big one.. was their a big one last year or in the spring? We haven't had a really really big wreck at any track for a while...

It should be faster, new asphalt is usually faster. Not sure what tire compound they're bringing? Hopefully a harder tire that will last longer, otherwise it will be a demolition derby with 10 cars running at the end, and Nemachek, Jeff Green or Tony Raines winning. (and who wants that?)
