First thing first you need to make sure there is nothing in your vents that are causing the odors. if you have a shop vac you can turn the reverse air on your shop vac. this will blow anything in your vents to out. i know of someone who puts these air fresheners that clip right onto the filter in your furnace/air conditioner. every time it comes on a soft scent fills each room. i reccomend the vanilla or tropical breeze.

You are supposed to do a cleaning of the ac ducts every few months but I dont think it needs to be done that darn often. However you can probably get someone out there to do a cleaning at a cheaper rate if they are offering a special. If you have central heat and ac they usually have special offers right before people start using the ac more and right before they start using the heat. Call em up and compare rates to get someone out there. They will also change all the filters.

Have the ducts examined for moisture and air leaks. It might be mold and that's bad. We had to replace all our duct work last year after 30 years . Some idiot used gray tape to hold the vents ducts together and of course after 30 years the tape rotted. This time they were put together with screws . Any way they should last.

Along with a company which can clean your ducts, you might want to get ahold of your local furnace person to check out your furnace. He/she can do some cleaning and maintenance checks to ensure things are working properly. They might check how the filter is sitting and if water or mold or both is somehow getting into your system. It's worth $100 to get them to come out and take a look.
